Agility is a sport that seems ideal for Italian Greyhounds.  It incorporates speed and jumping ability with the dog’s ability and willingness to follow the commands given by its handler.  The dog must be able to negotiate a variety of obstacles such as jumps, tunnels and the contact equipment (A-frame, dog walk, and teeter).

While both dogs and handlers love agility, it is important to know that this is not an instant sport.  Both dogs and handlers need to take time to learn the control and handling necessary to negotiate the courses.

In Canada, there are several organizations that host agility trials.  These include, but are not exclusive to, the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), Agility Association of Canada (AAC), and North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC).  Within each organization, dogs compete in several events (Jumpers, Standard, Gamblers, etc) and at different levels, starting with Novice or Starters and advancing through higher levels as their skills increase and they qualify in those classes.
